Jason deCaires Taylor is a sculptor and underwater photographer. He graduated with a BA honors in sculpture from the London Institute of Art. For the past 18 years, he has created underwater sculptures, and his work has an environmentalist focus. His work is created with environmentally sensitive materials, and the decay and growth over time are a part of the work's evolution. His work can help to influence governments in creating protected lands, as it did in Grenda in 2006 when he created the world's first underwater sculpture park off their coast. His innovation and creativity are very strong, and I am interested in learning more about his art

I really like the details in this sculpture of each figure having their head in a different direction, or having their feet in different poses; I think this brings life and individuality to their form. The photography of the art is also interesting with the shadows, and how the figures further away blend more into the background.

This one incorporates the living elements very well. It is cool how the coral grew out of the pots, but also spilled onto the area surrounding the figure. The body language of the person is very relaxed, and combined with the pops of blue tile, this work has an inviting aura. The image of a garden reminds me of life and growth, as well tas hat work must be put int to maintain it, very similar to the ocean.

My favorite part of this one is the contrasts between the geometric edges of the boat, and the natural patterns formed by the boat's sail. This work is fairly recent, so it will be interesting to see how it changes over time. This figure seems more detailed than some of his earlier projects, which shows his refinement of skill and technique over time.
