The artist I researched for this Awareness Post was Cem Özkan, a Turkish artist who creates sculptures out of scrap metal. You can find him on Instagram at @cem.oz.kan, all images were found there.

One thing I immediately noticed with this piece is the energy you can see in the limbs and posture that add to the movement and life of this sculpture. I also liked how even though it is all metal, there is still a great variation and texture that help it fit together like it is a robot.

With this sculpted dragon, I found the detail in the face, as well as the wings really ties it all together. The curves of the horns combat some of the straighter pieces of metal and frame the face well. I think some of the texture on teh legs doesn't work as well from this angle, but Its also cool how the dragon is standing on another object/pedestal thing.

I think its really interesting how teh subject here is a hand, yet it is made out of inorganic metal, and this juxtaposition adds to the wow factor of this piece. The scale is another thing I noticed. It is much larger than him but still has smaller details. I wonder how long this took to make?
