Curtis Santiago was born in 1997 in Edmonton Canada, and has worked as a musician and a visual artist. He has created paintings and large installation sculptures. He also works with the miniature scale, with his tiny dioramas depicting scenes from his childhood. These miniature scenes are what make up his Infinity Series. https://www.curtissantiago.art/
Soca in the Suburbs Grande Fete II, 2022
I think this work especially plays into the title of the series, given the mirror being built into the box, reflecting the scene the diorama depicts. I also thought the overhead view made the figures look even tinier, because of the angle. Everything is very exact, and I love the two little separate rooms. There is so much going on in such a small space.
March of the Jab Jabs 2021:
I thought the tiny foilage and plants in this tiny box were very realistic, and contributed to the feeling that an entire
world exists in the small box. Also, the bright blue coloring of the figures gives the piece a mystical sense.
Art Zaddy and Boogoo, 2020
This piece is from two years prior to Soca in the Suburbs Grande Fete II, and I think it really demonstrates how his technique has grown. Also, I thought the shape of this box and the velvet-looking lining were nice details that contributed to the happy, and comfortable mood.
