I enjoyed Mr. Sananikone's lecture very much. His art style was very cool, and I could see how his 3d painted toys were similar to the paintings and comics he did. I was surprised when he talked about doing murals for the first few times without sketches ahead of time, and I think if I had such a large space to cover, I would have to plan a lot. I learned about his comics that he worked on, and how they cover philosophical themes and tied back to his connection to the Vietnam War. He seem to be active in the Richmond artist sphere with his participation in things like the monster drawing rally and his job at the toy shop. Overall, it was nice to hear about something different than I am used to.
