For this project I am creating a sculpture based on the role of the Green Crab as an invasive species. This project has 3 main parts, there is the crab, which I made out of sculpy clay and I am painting in bright unrealistic colors to add contrast to the neutral environment. There is the base, which I built out of paper mache and textured using air dry clay and sand, there are also the rocks that the crab will sit on that are clay and tin foil. And finally there is the crochet element. I crochet eel grass in shades of white and tan, and in the sculpture the crab will be unraveling the crochet to symbolize their negative effect on eel grass.

Here are some process photos!
